Google has finally presented the next flagship models of its smartphones as well as the first smartwatch. It is, of course, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphone models, in addition to the Google Pixel Watch smartwatch. In this article, we will try to bring all the features of the two models of Pixel 7 smartphones and the first smartwatch from Google.
• Up to 30x SuperRes Pro zoom level (Pixel 7 Pro). Optical quality is similar to the dedicated 2x telephoto lens on the Pixel 7 and the 10x telephoto lens on the Pixel 7 Pro.
• Macro Focus mode (Pixel 7 Pro) – Pixel HDR+ photo quality from a distance of up to 3 cm.
• New Photo Unblur feature – sharpen blurry pictures (and old photos).
• Improved Magic Eraser Video Cinematic Blur feature, stabilization, and audio enhancements.
About the design itself and the features, almost everything was already more or less known even before the actual presentation. The main driver of these smartphones is the Tensor 2 chip, which relies on machine learning (user habits) and artificial intelligence, which Google has boasted about so many times.
On the back, we still have the well-known (impressive) camera module that first came to the market with the Pixel 6 smartphone models. Now it has been significantly improved, bringing with it top-quality camera features and the ability to take photos or record videos. The main camera sensor remained the same as on the Pixel 6 models. It is 50MP, and the ultra-wide sensor with 12MP remains the same. Of course, this applies to the Pixel 7 smartphone model.
Google Pixel 7 Pro, unlike its "younger brother", has autofocus inside the ultra-wide camera, which results in top-quality photography and macro photography. While the Pixel 7 brings an ultra-wide camera with fixed focus, Google Pixel 7 Pro brings the main camera sensor (Samsung GM1) with a resolution of 48MP with the existence of new periscope lenses. They provide the possibility of zooming up to 5x optical zoom or up to 30x hybrid zoom.
Apart from these cameras, the other "parts" have remained the same or the novelties and improvements are so small. Because apart from the cameras, a slightly brighter screen, and ultra-wide camera sensors, the other features remained the same as in the Pixel 6 smartphone model.
Google has done quite a lot when it comes to this part of the Pixel 7 smartphones. With a battery capacity of 5,000mAh in the Pixel 7 Pro model or 4,355mAh in the Pixel 7 model, the question "will the phone last until you sleep" is certainly unnecessary to ask. Google Tensor 2 has battery saving and rational battery consumption features. And there is certainly new energy efficiency. We have to mention that both Pixel 7 models bring top-notch OLED screens.
Machine learning will have one of the leading roles when it comes to optimizing battery consumption, which is certainly supported and we look forward to seeing how it works in practice. This would mean that Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will "learn" your habits and accordingly adjust various parameters of daily use - so that the autonomy remains as long as possible.
Both models come in common colors: black and white, or as Google likes to say "Volcanic Black/Obsidian" and "Snow White". The different colors in which these two models differ are:
- in the case of the Pixel 7 Pro, where we have Hazel (where the camera module is the same shade as the polished aluminum frame.
- Pixel 7 has Lemongrass.
Google Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 7 hit the market on October 13, 2022. Google Pixel 7 Pro comes with (internal memory/working memory):
- 128GB/12GB RAM,
- 256GB/12GB RAM,
- 512GB/12GB RAM.
The price is thus (price and internal memory capacity):
- $899 for 128GB,
- $999 for 256GB,
- $1099 for 512GB.
Google Pixel 7 comes exclusively with 8GB of working memory and 128GB or 256GB storage. The price is thus (price and internal memory capacity):
- $599 for 128GB,
- $699 for 256GB.
Both models do not support external memory in the form of a microSD card.
At the very beginning, we want to say that Google developed its first smartwatch together with the company "Fitbit", which Google bought precisely because of the work and development of the Google Pixel Watch smartwatch.
Google Pixel Watch has a spherical design, inspired by a drop of water, as Google likes to say. The watch itself goes from edge to edge, i.e. its screen, and the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protective layer was chosen as the protective layer.
Google Pixel Watch comes in three different colors: black, gold, and silver, but it also comes with many (multi-colored) straps for changing and different daily use. The mechanism of changing the strap itself is quite strange and has not been seen before. It is a rotating system that locks deep into the watch case. This, on the other hand, means that now (in the beginning) you can forget buying straps from other manufacturers, and whether they will eventually be available on the market will of course depend on the popularity of the Google Pixel Watch.
The Pixel Watch comes powered by the WearOS platform. Many features are jointly developed by Samsung and Google specifically for the current smartwatch platform. Google Assistant has found its place inside the Pixel Watch smartwatch, and artificial intelligence plays a significant role, which will greatly help users in their daily work with the support of a large number of different sensors and monitoring parameters, such as EKG, heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring, and the like.
What was announced to be coming and we can expect it in 2023 is fall detection, which, following the example of Apple SOS, the Google Pixel Watch would immediately notify the health service, but also the arrival of a collision monitoring sensor, which would have the same role only in a car or another means of transport.
Support for the Google Pixel Watch smartwatch, or the ability to connect to other Android smartphones, goes all the way back to Android 8.0. But for now, it is not stated whether the Pixel Watch will bring any special features when paired with Pixel smartphones.
Other features or Google services are deeply integrated within the Google Pixel Watch, such as Wallet, Maps, Gmail, Calendar, YouTube Music, and the Google Play app store.
Google Pixel will be available in two versions: Wi-Fi and LTE model. The Wi-Fi model will come to the market for $349.99, while the LTE version will be $399.99. Arrival on the market is scheduled for next week.
The company also announced a new tablet that will arrive next year, which is another step forward in catching up to the competitors. Regardless, Google has presented two nice phones, a bit better ones than those of the last series, and a very cool smartwatch. Time will tell how greatly will they serve the customers, but such a thing is undoubtedly expected.
